In the past...

The Cedar Rapids March for Life began when St. Matthew’s Church organized a march starting from their parking lot to the local Planned Parenthood, soon after Planned Parenthood moved to 1st Avenue. The physical distance of the walk is almost exactly one mile each direction.

After a few years, the Coalition for Life of Iowa began coordinating the event to reach a boarder base of participants. The path of the march has worked well for the event, so we have maintained the same path. The march takes place on either the weekend before or after the Roe v Wade anniversary, but typically before it. We usually announce the event during the month leading into the event. We march regardless of weather, so dress appropriately.

We have also helped people who wanted to participate in the National March for Life in Washington DC. We began that in 2012 for the 2013 march that marked the 40th anniversary of the Roe v Wade Supreme Court decision that legalized abortion across the United States.
